Adobe Photoshop Brushes- How to make grunge brushes
Daynah used the photoshop brush I made for her on her birthday greeting to Topaz. An important note: you can use Photoshop brushes for Paint Shop Pro (PSP) ,just change the extension from .abr to .jbr.
Here's how:
1. Load an image

2. You can add lines or edges to make it have a grungey look.
3. Adjust the threshold of the picture by going to Image > Adjust > Threshold. (read this grunge tutorial for more grungey effects)
you can use other adjustment properties of your choice but the threshold gives a grungey look.
other variations of grunge effects are to saturate it with black and white only. Then just turn the contrast up as far as it can go. Size it, rotate, cut, getting rid of all of the straight edges on the edges of the document. Go grab the eraser tool, and set the style to Pencil instead of Paintbrush. Now get rid of all the straight edges on the borders of the document, paste, etc. until you get what you like..(just experiment with those tools)

4. Play around with the slider till you get something you like.

5.Make a new document and make it 200 x 200 pixels or any size you want. (it depends if you want it to be a big or small brush)
6. You can still edit the image before going on to the next step.
7. Create a selection around the area you want to use as the brush and go, Edit > Define Brush. Then give the brush a name.

8. Your brush will now appear at the end of your brushes list. test it out..

9. If you are happy with it and want to give me the brush, save it as an .abr file
- go to edit >preset manager
- highlight the brush you made and click save set and give it a name

10. Download the file at windows explorer (at adobe>presets>brushes ) if you want to share it with others.
that's it. Here is a brushed image
11. To load the brushes, click 1 ,2 and 3 in this example.
